ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

THE COLDWATER MILL HERITAGE FOUNDATION

SPRING NEWSLETTER 2009

Hello everyone, I hope you all survived that long cold winter, spring seems to be in the air, but the weather hasn’t been cooperating.

We had another successful Candlelight Walk unfortunately the weather was cold and windy our candles that line the street wouldn’t stay lit.

We sold out of our roasted chestnuts and most of the hot beverages were consumed, their were a few new volunteers who manned the bonfire and roasted the chestnuts, they were:  Ron Brownley, Jeff Rodney and Cheryl Hamilton, great job guys and girl!

Herb and Helen Black did another terrific job with their live nativity scene and the 4H members, Herb found the perfect spot for the Nativity scene, right in front of the bonfire.  The evening ended up shutting down early due to the weather but seen nothing but smiling faces (maybe they were frozen that way).

We would remind members and the public to please leave their dogs at the front of the Mill and not take them back to where the sheep are being held, this frightens the animals; your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.

We have had a few changes on our board since last reported,  Mr. Colin Bidmead has stepped down and gone on to do other things, Clint Watt has stepped in as acting Chairman for the time being and we have added Tony Telford as a new director.

The board has been busy getting fundraisers underway. We have had one storytelling dinner and have another on April 28th,   both dinners have sold out and two more are being planned for the fall.

A Farmer’s Market is being planned on May 16th to occur every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until noon until approximately September; this will be hosted by The Mill and be held on the grounds. The response thus far has been overwhelming. We are still looking for vendors and customers.

Doors Open will be held on May 23 and 24th which the Mill will be open both days from 11 am until 4 p.m.

The fundraisers are necessary due to the number of items that need to be repaired and fixed around the Mill and inside.  We have applied for a summer student this year and have been successful with one of our applications.  This will enable the Mill to be open regularly with Sunday and Monday being the days we close.

Our first band concert is slated for July 12th at 2 p.m. which will be the Skyliners Orchestra who have opened for us 6 years straight and Pea, Pic’n Paul and friends scheduled for August 9th at 2 p.m.

The Duck Race will be held on May 30th and a Studio Tour is scheduled for June 23 & 24th and in the Mill we will have our very own Pam Rawliuk displaying her artwork.

This seems to be all the updates since the last newsletter, I hope everyone has a great summer and looking forward to seeing our members out to The Mill.
